ReutersAmazon to take team-wise approach on remote work policy – will let individual teams decide for how many days corporate employees would be expected to work from office in a week, Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy said in a message to employees on Monday.

I still hear many leaders struggle with the best flexibility + productivity balance related to Flexible work. Amazon leaves it to teams to decide, but would also require its employees to be close enough to their teams to be able to make it to meetings at a day’s notice.
It’s a brave new world for many businesses and leaders, I love the concept of work anywhere and anytime approach, but the reality is communication is not always effectively remotely and not everyone is disciplined enough to work on their own. It depends on how mature the team dynamics and interaction style is, it’s not just about trust it’s about demonstratable results. If the team can deliver productively remotely then keep it remote, otherwise come in office and initiate face to face engagement is a must.
